Wilmer J. Link, of McKeesport, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2011. He was born Sept. 3, 1917 in McKeesport. He is the son of the late Charles F. and Margaret Heatherington Link. He was the husband of the late Ruth A. Considine Link. They were married for 68 years at the time of her death in 2008. He is survived by children, Richard J. and Marlene Link of California, PA, Nancy R. Zmugg of Denver, CO, William D. Link of McKeesport, Thomas M. and Nancy Link of Mt. Lebanon, Mary Lou and Louis Mazure of Fayetteville, GA, Kathryn A. and Stephen Petro of Kamiah,ID and Patricia and Stephen Foster of Baldwin, 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and sisters, Marie Raynak of Port Vue, Doris Morgan of Ormand Beach, FL and Mildred (James) Dimitroff of Glassport. He was preceded in death by siblings Elizabeth Kelly, Margaret Maher, Rebecca Holden, Charles and Donald Link. Prior to retirement, he worked at USX National Tube in McKeesport for 47 years.
Wilmer's first love after his family was music. His interest in music led him and his late brother Donald to help establish the McKeesport Chapter of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Barbershop Singing Chorus). He was an active member of the former St. Mary's German choir for many years. At the time of his death he was a member of Corpus Christi (formerly St. Pius V) Church in McKeesport.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 , 412 678 6177 (Arrangements by D. James Heatherington, funeral director) on Mon. from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Angela Merici Church on Tues. Feb. 22, 2011 at 11:30 am.
