William Herrup

William Herrup, age 84, of N. Huntingdon, formerly of McKeesport, died Sept. 27, 2014. He was born in Pgh. on April 3, 1930 and is the son of the late Leon and Fannie Mantel Herrup. He is the beloved husband of the late Phyllis Roth Herrup. He was a retired Manager for the Carpet Dept. at the former Golden Rule in McKeesport and also was employed by Molyneaux Carpet in Verona. He graduated in 1947 from Peabody High School and the University of Pgh. in 1951. He was a past president of the Pgh. Tri-State Floor Covering Association, a past president of the White Oak Lions Club, a past president of the Redstone Highlands Residents Council and a former board member of Temple B'Nai Israel. He served in the U.S. Army as Sgt. 1st Class during the Korean War.

He is survived by his children Lisa and Bill Rogers of Mountain View, California, Diane and Brinkley Sprunt of Winfield, PA and Daniel and Mary Herrup of Alexandria, VA, grandchildren Barbara, Laura and Timothy Sprunt and Megan, Andrew and Emilyanne Herrup and sister Mildred Kass of Hillsborough, N.J. He was preceded in death by his sisters Esther Saperstein and Leah Buckler.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Monday (Sept. 29, 2014) from Noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Rabbi Paul Tuchman will officiate. Burial will be in Temple Cemetery.
