William Joseph Dilmore

February 8, 1938 — April 12, 2023

William Joseph Dilmore, age 85, of Apollo, formerly of Murrysville, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born in Wilmerding on February 8, 1938 and is the son of the late Francis J. and Edith Forgie Dilmore and the husband of the late Laverne Shredl. William proudly served in the United States Marines and retired as a draftsman from Westinghouse Research. He was a member of the Logans Ferry Sportsman Club and a former member of the McKeesport Sportsman Club. Bill spent a lot of time bird watching, on the gun range, and spending time with his canine friend, Greta. He is survived by his longtime companion, Charlotte Wylie; daughter, Laura (Chris) Estok of Johnstown; sister-in-law, Georgia Dilmore of Pittsburgh; nephews, James Dilmore; and Robert (Terri) Dilmore; great nieces, Sadie and Saoirse Dilmore; and great-nephews, Kerry and Kieran Dilmore. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, James Dilmore; and Francis Dilmore; and granddaughter, Leigh Anne Pilshka. Family and friends will gather on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett Avenue, White Oak, PA 15131.
