Wallace Albert Powers

Wallace Albert Powers, age 85, of McKeesport, died May 13, 2011 in Riverside Care Center in McKeesport, PA. He was born on March 30, 1926 and is the son of the late Albert R. Powers and Gertrude E. Dodge Powers Colbert. He was also preceded in death by his daughter and grandson. He worked for Union Railroad and served two terms in the U.S. Navy. He was a WWII veteran serving in the SeaBees in the Pacific and saw action while on the USS Stockham. He re-enlisted in 1956 and served until 1960 in the Pacific on the USS Canberra travelling all over the world. His home port was Norfolk, VA.

He is survived by sister Dorothy G. Powers Lasobik and nephew William J. Lasobik of West Mifflin and several cousins.

Friends will be received at Hunter Edmundson Striffler Funeral Home, 600 Market Street, McKeesport, 15132 ( 412 678 6191) on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00pm when services will take place with Rev. Jeff Youell officiating. Burial will be in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery with military honors.
