Thomas R. Sweet, Sr. age 75, of White Oak died November 2, 2011 at UPMC McKeesport. He was born in McKeesport on January 11, 1936 and is the son of the late Harry and Ella Hobbs Sweet. He was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth Saunders.
He was a sheet metal worker at White Oak Heating and Cooling for over 30 years and was a member of the Pittsburgh Association of the Deaf.
He is survived by his wife Laverne J. Belschner Sweet and children Rebecca "Becky" (Don "Natche") Roberts and Thomas R. Sweet, Jr. both from North Huntingdon, Lorraine (Harry) Mauer of Elizabeth, Monica (Walt) Strotman from Boardman, OH, Jerry Kieffer from Sandusky, OH; grandchildren, Eric and Tyler Roberts, Tamie (Doug) Markland, Todd (Sarah) Turner, Darris (Ian) Klasovsky; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Faith, Mason, Brooke, Brennen, Emma and nephew, Albert (Marlene) Saunders.
Friends will be received at Hunter-Edmundson-Striffler Funeral Home, 600 Market Street, McKeesport, 15132 (412 678 6191) on Sunday 2:00 until 4:00 pm and 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday at St. Angela Church at 10:00 am. Burial to follow.
