Thelma Ruth Blaha, age 85, of Port Vue, died Jan. 12, 2014. She was born in McKeesport on Nov. 27, 1928 and is the daughter of Michael and Katherine O'Brien Guidos. She is the wife of the late James L. Blaha and the mother of the late James K. Blaha who died January 17, 1992. She is survived by her children; Beverly (Jeffery) Handra of Washington, PA and Jeffrey (Charlene) Blaha of Bristow, VA. She is the grandmother of Julia and Jaime Handra and Truman and Rory Blaha and the sister of Richard (Rose) Guidos of West Mifflin. She is a member of the Port Vue United Methodist Church. Before Thelma's children were born she was employed at Blank's Drug Store and Butler's Drug Store in Duquesne and Balsamo's Market and Sunny Lane Market in McKeesport. After raising her children she assisted her husband at the former Blaha Real Estate Agency.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-9 pm. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11:00 a.m. and officiated by Senior Pastor Josephine Whitely-Fields and Associate Pastor Jody Dausey. Entombment will take place at Lebanon Chapel Mausoleum of West Mifflin.
