Robert A. Van Eman

Robert A. Van Eman, age 89, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of McKeesport, died March 30, 2013. He was born in New Castle on Oct. 19, 1923 and is the son of the late Floyd and Myrtle Maloney Van Eman and the husband of the late Elizabeth Claire Finn Van Eman & Patricia Arnold. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a purchasing agent for the former Glassport Foundry/Bucyrus Erie. He was a professional baseball player within the Boston Red Socks Association for the San Diego Padres for 13 years. He is survived by children; Bobbi Roberta Ann Van Eman of McKeesport, Ronald (Lynne) Van Eman of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Brother of; Lanny (Janis) Van Eman of Scottsdale, AZ, step-children; Ellen Arnold, Mary (Dennis) Welsch, Brennan Arnold, Kathleen (Roscoe) Hood, Clifford Arnold and Steve Arnold, all of Mt. Lebanon, Grandchildren; Julie, Victor and James Van Eman, Kaitlyn Arnold, Nick and Michael Arnold and Roscoe Hood, Jr. He is preceded in death by his brother Jackie Lee Van Eman. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #701 . Friends will be received Thursday 4-8 PM at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177) funeral service Friday 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Ryder officiating. Burial will follow.
