Robert A. Spernock, age 79, of Port Vue, died Sept. 14, 2014. He was born in McKeesport on March 8, 1935 and is the son of the late Anthony and Irene Cverna Spernock. He is the husband of the late Barbara J. Taylor Spernock. He was employed by the Borough of Port Vue, an equipment operator for Penn Dot and then retired from Lawson Excavating Inc. located in Liberty Borough. He was one of the founding members of the Buck Horn Gun Club in Potter County, a member of the Liberty Borough Veterans Club, a member of the Croation Club in Versailles Borough and the McKeesport American Legion Post #361. He was a former member of the Star Junction Gun Club in Perryopolis and a member of the former Blue Rock Club in Port Vue. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Steeler fan; he was an all around "Mr. Fix-It" and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his children; Sandy (Bob) Lawson of Liberty Boro, Barbara (Tim Olack) Sivak of Port Vue, Janet Spernock of Linden, Michigan, Karen (Mike Young) Schneider of Saginaw, Michigan, Bethann (Russ) Wooster of Port Vue, Amy Jo Spernock of Port Vue, Richard Spernock of N. Carolina and George (Deb) Spernock of Ruby, S. Carolina, grandchildren; Dawn, Shane, Angie, Jesse, Nikki, Kristie, Doug, Samantha, Mandi, Cody, Robecca, Michael, Jason, Maria, Keri Jo, Melissa, Kayla, Russell lll and Micheal "Mikey", 24 great grandchildren, sisters; Thelma Crady of Florida, Audrey Svitko of N. Huntingdon, Donna (John) Gouchenour of Port Vue and Kathy (Jim) Lopretto of Virginia, many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins, and life-long friend Frank Dippolito of Port Vue.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son; Robert Spernock, grandson; Jim Pandocchi and sister; Irene Kwitkowski.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of Port Vue, 325 Gumbert Street, Port Vue, 15133 on Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow.
