Robert J. Pupich, age 89, of White Oak, died January 17, 2014. He was born in Duquesne on January 6, 1925 and is the son of the late John L. and Anna Felyo Pupich. He is the husband of the late Dolores Brocard Pupich. He was employed at USS National Tube in the seamless pipe finishing department and was a school bus driver for MASD. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW 11 and the Korean War.
He is survived by his children; Roberta (Ted) Mains and Robert (Jean) Pupich, Jr. all of White Oak, grandchildren; Marcie Barry of North Huntingdon, Melissa (Matt) Hale of Port Vue, Ashley (Dickie) Markovitz of Irwin, and Brett Pupich a US Navy Corpsman stationed with the 3rd Marine Corp Battalion in Kenohe Bay, Hawaii, great-grandchildren; Tyler and Megan Barry, Morgan and William Hale, Zane and Zeke Markovitz, sister-in-law; Olga Pupich of Melbourne, Florida, niece; Maryann Nola of Palm Bay, Florida, nephew Edward F. (Michelle) Pupich, Jr. of Liberty Boro, many cousins and companion, Joan Zimmerman of McKeesport. He was preceded in death by brother; Edward F. Pupich who died Jan. 17, 2013.
He was on the Board of Directors and was a former treasurer of Sacred Heart of Corpus Christi Credit Union, an usher for St. Martin DePorres Church as far back as Sacred Heart Church, a member of Butler's Oldtimers Golf League, a Cub Master of Pack #19 and Scout Master of Troop #19 of Sacred Heart Church. He was awarded the St. George award for the adult Catholic scouting by then Bishop John Wright and was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #3 where he served as Co Chairman of the sports committee. He was inducted into the Croation Catholic Union Bowlers Hall of Fame.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177) on Monday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at Corpus Christi Church at 10:00 am with the Father Stephen A. Kresak officiating. Burial will follow.
