Robert “Bob” Matthews Bell, age 71, of Coatesville, PA, died on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 27, 1954, and was the son of the late Dr. Robert Lloyd and Helen Louise Matthews Bell. Bob went to JMA Deberry Academy starting at 1st grade until he graduated in 8th grade and then graduated from Coatesville Area High School. He then became a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for over twenty years. He later was employed by the Chester County Hospital as a Cardiac Unit Coordinator for forty years. He was a member of the Philadelphia Continental Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution; the American Legion - Honeybrook Chapter; and Downingtown Presbyterian Church. Bob was known for his witty sense of humor and brought smiles to all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his sister, Louise Bell (the late Scott) Devanny of Annapolis, MD; and his niece, Anna Louise “Boo” Devanny of Washington, D.C., who was his pride and joy.
A burial took place on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Elizabeth Twp., PA. Arrangements were cared for by Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177).
