Richard R. Wasko, 90, of McKeesport died peacefully Saturday, June 23, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born in Duquesne on Feb. 21, 1922, and is the son of the late John and Anna Kocela Vasko. He is the husband of 60 years of the late Margaret Pazur Wasko. He retired from Westinghouse Electric after 43 ½ years. He received his associates degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University, was a WW ll veteran that served in the U.S. Air Force Pacific Area Army Airway Communications System Corps. as Staff/SG 7. He was a member of the White Oak American Legion Post #701, a former coach of the McKeesport Little League and Pony League Baseball, past president of the Duquesne N.S.O.F and was a past chairman of the Advisory Board, a past counselor of Boy Scout Troop #7, and a past secretary of the former Duquesne Racing Pigeon Club.

He is survived by his children; Richard (Paulette) Wasko of Chippewa, Curtis (Sue) Wasko of Palm Harbor, Fla., Donna Wasko Schake of Chippewa and Maryann (Craig) Wasko Smith of Betterton, Md., sisters; Agnes Seech of West Mifflin and Aleen (Albert) Michaels of Duquesne and "The Ladies" who were the caregivers these past two years. He was preceded in death by siblings; Erma, Cyril, and Robert. Special thanks to a dear friend and neighbor, Rose Hadzima, who gave so much for so many years.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177) on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 529 Grant Ave. Ext., West Mifflin, 15122, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Services will be officiated by The Rev. Thomas J. Burke. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to McKeesport Meals on Wheels (which the family is so grateful for their services these last six years) c/o First United Methodist Church, Versailles and Cornell streets, McKeesport, 15132.
