R. Michael Roidt, 80, of N. Versailles died Monday, August 6, 2012. He was born in LaCrosse, WI on October 1, 1931, and is the son of the late Marcellus and Roberta Faye Truax Roidt. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He earned his PhD and graduate degree from The University of Pittsburgh and his undergraduate degree from The University of Wisconsin. He was a professor at The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. He was also the author of numerous scientific publications as well as many patents. He was retired from Westinghouse Research and Development in Churchill where he was a research engineer and manager.
He is survived by his wife; LaVerne Okeson Roidt of North Versailles, sons; Thomas (Tara) Roidt of Portland, OR and Joseph (Vicki) Roidt of Elkins, WV, brothers; Thomas Roidt of Ayden, NC, Peter Roidt of Hartland, WI and David (Diane) Roidt of Grafton, WI.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177) on Thursday from 1pm-4pm & 6pm-8pm.
