Peter Bohenko, age 91, of Monroeville, formerly of White Oak, died Feb. 2, 2014. He was born in McKeesport on Nov. 7, 1922 and is the son of the late Constantine and Tekla Skalski Bohenko. He was the proprietor of the former Bohenko Flower Shop from 1949 until 1965 and Mac's Cut-Rate from 1965- 1981, both in Wilmerding and then was a clerk for Product Development Corporation. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW ll and was a founding member of the current St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church in McKeesport. He was affectionately known by his parish community as a very hard worker with their pyrohy projects.
He is survived by his brother; Walter E. Jacob of Monroeville, nephew; Michael (Joanie) Jacob of Wilkins Twp., nieces; Patricia Bohenko of Monroeville, Marilyn Yochum of Virginia Beach, VA and Susan (Larry) Gelber of Harrisburg, great niece; Heidi (Willie) Wilcox, great nephew; Jordan Jacob and great-great nephew; Liam Wilcox.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Cemetery on Crooked Run Road in N. Versailles and officiated by Fr. Gregory Madeya. Arrangements are being handled by Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services (412 678 6177).
