Paul David Coates

Paul David Coates, age 70, of McKeesport, PA, died on Monday, July 27, 2026, at his residence. He was born in McKeesport, PA, on September 28, 1955, and was the son of the late John Matthew and Naida Jo Adams Coates. He served in the U.S. Navy. He spent a majority of that time in the Mediterranean. He then served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. After the military he was employed by Sony and also by Westinghouse Air Brake. Electronics was his gift. He was a member of the White Oak American Legion Post 701, the VFW Post 8430 in East McKeesport, PA, and the South Wilmerding Social Club in North Versailles, PA.

Paul is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Terry) Broome of White Oak, PA; Joan Spahr of Metairie, LA; and John (Taveelarp “Ann”) Coates of Houston, TX; and nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to honor Paul’s memory at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, and Adam Striffler Galaski funeral directors, 412-678-6177) on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The White Oak American Legion service will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Services with military honors will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
