Nancy Lynn Ervin

North Versailles

Nancy Lynn Ervin, age 82, of North Versailles, PA, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on June 27, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Harvey Albert and Betty Jane Graham Hunter. The story goes that her first trip was on a train to visit her father who was stationed in Minot, North Dakota during WWII. The soldiers on the train helped entertain baby Nancy, and obviously they doted on her. That may have been the beginning of her ability to charm others.

As a young woman she traveled with good friends visiting various places like San Francisco, Florida, and a family favorite, Pymatuning. She was known for her little red cars, such as her VW Beatle, who the Preston Road kids called the “Nancy Car,” and her sporty Honda Civic.

Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School in Wilmerding, PA. Over the years, she was a part of the reunion committee which started as just a small class reunion, which grew to “the most expensive reunion bar tab” ever…Well done WMHS alumni! Please remember to toast Nancy at the next class reunion. She’ll be pleased to know that the tradition continues. And in case you’re wondering, a classic Rusty Nail cocktail was her favorite.

She was employed as a customer service representative by the former Merck-Medco Managed Care. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Linway United Presbyterian Church, and the Red Hat Society, where she met her good friend, Sandy. She was active with her local breakfast club with lifelong friends where they laughed (and maybe complained) once a month. Her laughter will surely be missed by this sweet group of women. She was thankful for their friendship.

Nancy enjoyed the past two decades with her partner in crime, dinner & travel companion, and best friend, Larry. He cared for her and her gorgeous cat, Sassy (appropriately named). Thank you, Larry, for making her final years brighter.

She adored her two beautiful granddaughters encouraging them to cook, sew, appreciate flowers, shop Amazon and Temu, but most importantly, to be respectful and kind to others. They will miss their “Gaga” tremendously.

Nancy is survived by her sweet son, Grant (Amy) Ervin of Pittsburgh, PA; step-sons, Gregory “Pat” Ervin of Pittsburgh, PA; and Michael E. Ervin of Dayton, OH; loving grandchildren, Marley Ella Ervin; and Isla Elise Ervin; three amazing and caring brothers and their wonderful wives who she considered sisters, Ken (Elaine) Hunter of Rotonda West, FL; Terry (Jennie) Hunter of Irwin, PA; and Gary (Diane) Hunter of Summerfield, FL; and partner, Larry Miller of North Versailles, PA.

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis “Jake” Ervin. It brings us comfort to know that they are welcoming her with open arms in heaven.

Nancy was a breast cancer survivor and supported various organizations. One that she talked fondly of is the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, which ensures that no woman fights alone. Nancy loved that this organization sends care packages to patients to lift their spirits and help them on their journey. If interested in supporting their cause, visit www.pabreastcancer.org/donate.
