Michael Patrick Traynor

Michael Patrick Traynor, age 85, of McKeesport, PA, died on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. He was born in Homestead, PA, on February 11, 1941 and was the son of the late Michael and Dorothy (Eichler) Traynor of Christy Park, McKeesport, PA. Michael was the husband of the late Rita Frances (Koto) Traynor, who died on November 22, 2025 (they were together for over 60 years and passed within six months of one another). Michael Traynor was once the proprietor of the local State Inspection Service Station Center that’s now a Sunoco Gas Station in White Oak PA, and owner Village Auto in McKeesport, PA. Michael lived a humble and happy life with his wife Rita Traynor. Michael Traynor enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, fishing, camping and gold hunting. Michael Traynor was certified as a State of Pennsylvania Auto Inspections Mechanic that specialized in Volkswagen/German foreign motors. Michael and Rita both attended, participated and consistently took great pride within their Catholic faith together and was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish of McKeesport, PA.

Michael is survived by his sons, Michael Traynor of McKeesport, PA; Derrian Galensky of Fallon, NV; grandchildren, Layla Traynor; sisters, Mary Ann Bower (the late brother-in-law William Bower) of Munhall, PA; Betty Jo Scott (the late brother-in-law Mark Scott) of McKeesport, PA; Dorothy Zuckerman of Swissvale, PA; sister-in-law, Susan Traynor (the late Daniel Traynor) of Oakdale, CT; and as with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Marie (Galensky) Traynor; grandson, Paul Galensky; and brothers, Daniel Traynor of Oakdale CT; Louis Traynor (the late sister-in-law Carolyn Traynor); younger siblings Patrick Traynor and James Traynor of McKeesport, PA.

Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Michael’s memory on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6178). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church, 310 32nd Street, McKeesport, PA, 15132. A burial will follow.
