Michael V. Smyrnes, 89, of Wexford, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015. He was born in McKeesport on Jan. 1, 1926, and was the son of the late Venizelos and Peggy (Mamas) Smyrnes. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He and his wife, Margie S. Smyrnes, owned and operated Flair Cleaners & Home Laundry in White Oak for 50 years. Besides the time he spent enjoying his family, his other true passion was aviation and flying his own airplane. He is survived by his loving wife and childhood sweetheart of 69 years, Margie (Stoupis) Smyrnes; his daughters, Kathleen (Eric) White, of Wexford, Peggy (Dr. Karl Williams) Smyrnes-Williams; grandson, Michael E.C. Williams; and his cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, James Smyrnes. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor 412-678-6177) (Trisagion Services will be held at 3 p.m.). Friends will also be received Monday from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in White Oak with Father William Zotis officiating and Father Christopher Bender co-officiating. Entombment will be at Lebanon Chapel Mausoleum of West Mifflin.
