Melvin A. Phillips

Melvin A. Phillips, after 22 years of courageous battles, Mel, 90 years old, is finally at peace. He was born in West Homestead on April 21, 1920. During his youth, Mel played trumpet for the Salvation Army Band. While working for Homestead Works, he met his beloved wife, Roslyn Bonadio of Glassport. During their 66+ years of marriage, they resided in Glassport where Mel was one of the original members of the CMO, St. Cecilia's Bowling League, and a founding father of the Glassport Pool. He was also a former Republican Councilman and Deputy Sheriff. As well as co-owner/operator of Roz-Mel House of Beauty and Nadine's Coiffure and Boutique with his wife and daughter. He finished his working career as a Night Auditor for 21 years at the Sheraton Motor Inn, McKeesport and has lived in White Oak since 1988. Mel Enjoyed watching sports, golfing and, especially, spending time with his family. Mie is survived by his wife, Roslyn and daughter Nadine, son-in-law Jim Rossini, and the special joys of his life, grandsons Justin and Aaron. In addition to all the Bonadio family members, there were many special people in Mel's life that he held dear to his heart.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177) on Friday from 2-4 and 5-8 pm. Mass of Christion Burial will be Sat. at 11 am at St. Angela Merici Church with the Very Rev. Stephen M. Chervenak officiating, Burial will be at Round Hill Cemetery.
