Mary Claudette Henry, 92, of Irwin, PA passed away at home on May 6, 2026 surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. She was born on January 27, 1934 in Stowe Township, the daughter of Julia Schaukowitz Duffy and Ralph Densmore Duffy. She graduated with a degree in education in 1956 from Duquesne University, where she also met her loving husband of 69 years, Richard Lavelle Henry. Her happiest times were spent at home with her family, and she dearly loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and taking trips to Ireland with her husband and family. She was a remarkable teacher who shaped many young lives with her kindness, patience, and encouragement. Her kindness and sense of humor are deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Henry, her children Richard C. Henry of St. Marys, GA, Kathleen (Katie) Henry and husband Frank Palermo of Alexandria, VA, Maureen D. Neisess of Ellicott City, MD, and Jean M. Henry of Irwin, PA, and her grandchildren, Christoph Richard Neisess, Mary Clare Neisess, Samuel Neisess, and Sarah Henry. She is preceded in death by her brother, Ralph "Pat" Duffy, her sister, Jean Deshler, her son, Ronald R. Henry, and her son-in-law, Jeff Neisess.
Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Mary Claudette’s memory on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6178). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church, 2701 Kelly Street, White Oak, PA 15131. A burial will follow.
