Mabel Mae Baldis, 93, of Tamarac, Fla., formerly of Green Valley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015. She was born May 6, 1922, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Freidwald Knoll; and wife of the late Charles R. Baldis. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Baldis. Mabel was an avid reader, reading up to four books a week, liked working on crossword puzzles and was a huge fan of the Florida Marlins baseball team. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Michele) Baldis, of Tamarac; daughter, Susan Hawes, of Surprise, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Corrine Baldis, of Manor; grandchildren, Jimmy, Katie (Scott), Luke, Jeremiah, Dustin (Lisa) and Sean (Sheri); great-grandchildren, Ziah, Machi, Niklas and Kallan; nieces, Nora Grove, Cheryl Conroy, Linda Barkemeyer and Donna Husack; nephew, Kurt Petterson; close friends, Gus Norder, of Dravosburg, and Jerry and Margy, of Erie. She was preceded in death by siblings, Harold and Charles Knoll, Edna Belgrade, Elizabeth Wood, Marie Strunk, Else, Hilda and Cathryn Knoll. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177, until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow. Remembrances in Mabel's name may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
