Lois Anna Cochenour Ackerman

Lois Anna Cochenour Ackerman, age 92, of White Oak, Pennsylvania, died on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was born on January 18, 1934, in Sewickley Twp., Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph and Adeline Wiley Cochenour. Lois married Arthur B. Ackerman, Jr. on August 14, 1954, and together they had four children: Jean, who died in infancy; Ardith (Fred) Mauck; Aaron (Kimberly) Ackerman; and Judith (the late Alfred Pello) Ackerman. In addition to her three children, Lois is survived by her grandchildren, Heather (James) Alexander; Megan (Ray Withers) Grifa; Molly (Joseph) Carso; and Eric Mauck. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Noel; Morgan; Taylor; and James Clifford; Alexander; Mason; Mckynleigh; and Adelina Grifa; and Eloise Carso. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Lois graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Elementary Education. Until her retirement in 1998, she taught in the Kiski Area School District.

In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur, who died on January 31, 2026; daughter, Jean; and siblings, Emily; Shirley; and Wiley.

Family and friends are invited to honor Lois’s memory at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, and Adam Striffler Galaski, funeral directors, 412 678 6177) on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Noon. The service will be officiated by Pastor Sarah Lee-Faulkner. A burial will follow.
