Keisha Danielle Fortner-McKamey

May 5, 1980 — December 21, 2025

McKeesport

Keisha Danielle Fortner-McKamey, age 45, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025. She was born on May 5, 1980, to James Fortner Sr. and Teresa Fortner in Chicago, Illinois, where she spent the first several years of her life. At the age of seven, Keisha moved to Pennsylvania with her parents and her younger sister. Throughout her childhood, her family lived in several apartment communities, where Keisha formed friendships that would last a lifetime.

By the age of twelve, Keisha and her family settled in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. As a teenager, she began questioning life and learning how to navigate its challenges, especially as she adjusted to having a baby brother—someone with whom she would later develop an unbreakable bond. During her early teen years, Keisha joined a church dance team called Children of Praise. Through this experience, she reconnected with God and began nurturing the seeds of faith that had been planted in her heart as a little girl.

In December of 1999, Keisha welcomed her first child, Daeaujate. In June of 2011, she gave birth to her daughter, Gennavecya. Keisha later married her best friend and life partner, Frank McKamey, in September of 2016. Their family was further blessed with the birth of their son, Kadonis, in 2017.

Keisha had a love for traveling and trying new things—especially if there was a good sale involved. As she grew older, she found her greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. She was deeply committed to giving her children the experiences and memories she felt she had missed growing up. As many would say, Keisha never let the grass grow under her feet. She became someone others looked to for strength, guidance, and honesty.

Keisha was loving yet unapologetically blunt. She spoke her truth without concern for how it might be received, but her heart was always rooted in love. Her strength, her laughter, and the joy she brought into every room will be missed and cherished most by those who knew her.

Keisha’s favorite word was “delete.” So, if there is one thing she would want to leave behind, it is this reminder: delete the things that don’t matter, and focus on the things that do—faith, family, and friends.

Her legacy of love, resilience, and authenticity will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved her.

Keisha was preceded in death by her grandmothers, her maternal grandfather, and her father. She leaves to cherish her memory her paternal grandfather, Willie Fortner; her loving mother, Teresa Fortner; her devoted husband, Frank McKamey; and her beloved children, Daeaujate Fancher, Gennavecya McKamey, and Kadonis McKamey. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Niesha and Kevin Kovalak; her brother, James Fortner Jr.; her nephews, James Dagger Jr., Gabriel Kovalak, Noah Kovalak, and Elliah Fortner; her niece, Zerahiah Kovalak; her precious granddaughter, Zurianna Bah; along with a host of loving family members and dear friends.
