Kathleen "Kay" Swanson, 83, of White Oak, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. She was born June 18, 1932, in McKeesport, and was the daughter of the late Edwin and Roseanne Brady Swanson. She retired from the warehouse of the former G.C. Murphy Co. in McKeesport, where she worked for 43 years as an assembler. She enjoyed wood-crafting, creating pieces such as dollhouses, birdhouses and trains, just to name a few; it was said she could look at anything and recreate it out of wood. She also enjoyed playing bingo and cards belonging to a local card group, travelling, music, but mostly loved to spend time with her family. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Donna Swanson, of McKeesport; nieces, Shelley (John Duda) Swanson Price, of Liberty Borough, Valerie (Steven) Patterson, of Waynesburg, and Janis Hargro, of Wilmerding; several great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Edwin Charles Swanson. The family would like to thank all the staff at Evergreen Personal Care Home in Waynesburg for always treating Kay like family. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Angela Merici Parish in White Oak, with Father Kevin Dominik officiating. Burial will follow in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery.
