Josephine J. "Jo" Vallus, age 93, of White Oak died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015. She was born in Duquesne on Oct. 25, 1921 and is the daughter of the late Paul and Magdalena Kotvas. She was the wife of 67 years to the late George J. Vallus. She was a member of Sampson Mills Presbyterian Church, and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, was an excellent baker, dancer, winning five jitterbug competitions at the Roseland Ballroom. She was also the first female spark tester hired at USS Duquesne Works during WWII, and an accomplished seamstress. She loved camping with her husband and spending time with family and friends. She was known as "Aunt Honey" and loved driving her yellow Jeep Rubicon she called "Honey Bee".

She is survived by her son, Gary G. Vallus of White Oak; grandson, Dustin G. Vallus of Glassport; granddaughter, Mary Jo Vallus of Munhall; sister, Bertina Rose; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe and Steve; and sisters, Mary, Margaret, Frances and Julia.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, (412)-678-6177) on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8pm and Monday from 4-8 pm. Services will be on Tuesday at 11:30 am in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow.
