Joseph Mulac

McKeesport

Joseph Mulac, a lifelong resident of McKeesport, passed away on November 2, 2025. Born July 19, 1933, Joe was one of nine children born to the late Milan and Mary (Pecar) Mulac. A 1951 graduate of McKeesport High School, he worked as a draftsman and US Steel Duquesne Works before beginning his career as a law man in 1960. He joined in the McKeesport Police Department, rising to the rank of Captain before retiring in 1984. He finished his career at Westinghouse Bettis, where he worked in armed security until 1999.

Joe was a huge fan of the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers – never missing a game. However, his favorite team was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and he was a proud member of the Notre Dame “Subway Alumni.” He was also a huge supporter of Serra Catholic High School, working with the Service Organization of Serra for many years. He was a long-time member of the eleventh Ward Welfare Association, and many other clubs and organizations on the area. A proud Croatian, he grew up as a member of Sacred Heart Parish in McKeesport. After his marriage to the late Laurae (Raible) Mulac, he joined St. Pius V Parish where he served as an usher for many years.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and wife, along with siblings John, Tony, Mark, George, Milan, Anna-Mae Werber, and Sr. Rosemary, A.S.C. He is survived by his sister Bernadette D’Antonio of White Oak, his daughter Beth Frydrych and son-in-law John Frydrych, son Adam Mulac and daughter-in-law Maureen (Greaghty) Mulac, grandchildren Tori Frydrych of Manasquan, NJ, and Noah Mulac of North Huntingdon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
