John F. Novotny

John F. Novotny, 92, of McKeesport, formerly of Port Perry, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015. He was born Feb. 9, 1923, in North Braddock, a son of the late William I. and Mary Berry Novotny. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma K. Smith Novotny. He was retired from U.S. Steel in Homestead and was an Army veteran. He is survived by children, Denis (Donna) Watson, of North Eagle, Dona Yerecic, of Seattle, Wash., Dee (Dale) Bachman, of San Antonio, Texas, Frank Laaks, of Mercer, Marlene Marquise, of Cranberry, Jean Stickel, of Penn Hills, John "Sluggo" Laaks, of East Pittsburgh, and Mary Joy Brunson, of Manor; siblings, Ronny Novotny, of Cypress, Texas, Barbara Hitchens, of Harrisburg, and Connie Kalinowski, of Pittsburgh; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICE, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131, Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177. Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow.
