Jewell Galata

Jewell Galata, age 79, of Irwin, died December 1, 2010. Born in McKeesport on February 26, 1931, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Lottie Slaney. She previously worked at UPMC McKeesport in housekeeping and was also a self employed seamstress. She was a member of Herminie Senior Citizens Club. She is the wife of the late Joseph Galata, mother of the late Linda Heckman, grandmother of the late Jason and sister of the late Frank, Beverly, Charlotte, Jane and Helen. She is survived by children; Nancy (Dan Hamilton) Boehm of Irwin, Joseph Galata of Reno Nevada, David Galata of San Diego and Thomas (Ellen) Galata of Las Vegas. She is also survived by grandchildren; Cain, Andrew, Natalie, Anthony, Matt, Nicole, Andrew, Anissa, Shayda, and Shion. Also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor 412 678 6177) on Friday from 2PM until 8PM. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 10:30AM. Burial to follow.
