Jayne Antonette Trombola

February 20, 1935 — February 28, 2024

Jayne Antonette Trombola, age 89, of Conneaut Lake, formerly of McKeesport and Irwin, died on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. She was born in McKeesport on February 20, 1935 and is the daughter of the late A. William and Sophia Kolanko Yerkey. Jayne graduated from McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and worked as a nurse at the U.S. Steel Christy Park Plant in McKeesport. She had been a member of the former Transfiguration of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport, currently a member of Our Lady, Queen of the Americas Parish and the Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club, both in Conneaut Lake, as well as a former member of the Mon-Yough Chapter of Catholic Nurses.

Jayne’s life was devoted to three pillars: Faith, Family and Friends. She was among the most faithful people any of us ever knew, and her connection to a higher power was evident. Her children called it the “direct line” - not only would her family ask her to pray for them, but friends and friends of friends would too, whether they were going through joyful or challenging times. She was truly empathetic in that way, a true listener. She took deep interest in people, and she had a magnetism that drew them to her. Jayne weathered many tragedies in her young life, which is perhaps what drove her compassion for others. As children of the depression, she and her husband George were also very hardworking, building a bountiful life and framework for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Yet she was also a woman of style, grace, glamor and beauty throughout her life.

Jayne is survived by her children; Monica (James) Johnson of Rose Valley, PA; Daniel (Tammy) Trombola of Cranberry Twp., PA; Michele (James) Rogan of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Brittany (Brandon) Buschmeier; Andrew (Julie) Johnson; Katelyn (Matthew) Frerichs; Chelsea Johnson; Abigail (Luke) Andrews; Lindze (Keith) Hoover; Nathan (Shannon) Johnson; Hannah Rogan; Nicholas Trombola; Daniel Trombola; and great grandchildren, Evie Buschmeier; Jack Frerichs; George Buschmeier; and Madison Johnson.

In addition to her parents, Jayne was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her sister, Lois Neidererr.
