James E. Sherer

James E. Sherer, age 95, of White Oak, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016. He was born in McKeesport on July 31, 1920, and is the son of the late Leonard and Kate Sherer and the husband of the late Reva Parker Sherer. He was proprietor of James Sherer Plumbing & Heating Company in White Oak for nearly 65 years. He served in the US Army during WWII. He is a member of St. Angela Merici Parish and was a former member of their Holy Name Society.

He is survived by his sons, Timothy (Theresa) Sherer of Capitola, California and Mark (Deborah) Sherer of Irwin; grandchildren, Ryan Jonathan Sherer, Jodie Beth Padgett, Kate Emmett Sherer, Emma Suzette Banowetz; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Brandon Swanner and Bridgette Louise Banowetz. He is preceded in death by his twin brother, Jack and sister-in-law, Dolly.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION & MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Angela Merici Parish with Fr. Kevin Dominik officiating. Interment will follow.
