James "Jim" P. Hoffman

James “Jim” P. Hoffman, age, 73, of Monroeville, PA, formerly of White Oak, PA, died on Sunday, August 31, 2025. He was born in McKeesport, PA, on August 30, 1952, and is the son of the late J. Herbert and Gerldine E. Ponsonby Hoffman.

He was proudly employed as Fire Chief for the White Oak Volunteer Fire Company #1 for many years and Captain at the North West Fire Rescue District. Jim was also employed as a communications specialist for STAT MedEvac. He was a member of the Western PA Fireman’s Association, Allegheny County Fire Association, Mon-Yough Fire Defense Council, Western Fire Chief’s Association, Arizonia Fire Instructor’s Association, and the American Legion Post 701. Jim served in the United States navy during the Vietnam War.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Laura A. (Ronald) Martin of Pitcairn, PA; Ellen M. (Marty Urick) Garia of Verona, PA; and Susan J. Garia of Level Green, PA; grandchildren, Fred (Kate) Hartz; Maria (Jae) Urick; Joseph (Shanelle) Garia; Michael Urick; Sean (Mercedes) Martin; and Alexis (Jake) Garia; eleven great-grandchildren, sister, Becki L. (Gary) Brletic of White Oak, PA; brothers, Gary A. (Linda) Hoffman of Virginia Beach, VA; and Kevin A. Hoffman of White Oak, PA; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Shephard Hoffman, who died on August 1, 2024; and granddaughter, Amanda Garia.

Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Jim’s memory on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177). Services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, in the funeral home chapel. A burial will follow.
