James A. Blankenship, age 82, of McKeesport, died February 24, 2013. He was born in McKeesport on May 16, 1930 and is the son of the late Benjamin and Harriet Brush Blankenship. He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed as a steel worker for U.S. Steel National Tubes in McKeesport until he retired after 35 years.
He is survived by his wife; Josephine "Toots" Leone Blankenship, daughters; Sharon Blankenship, Kathleen (John) Coulter, Sandra Jacobs, and Lisa (Vince) Laird all of McKeesport, grandchildren; Jay (Mary) Shatlock, James (Rachael) Blankenship, Frank Jimenez, Michael Jacobs, Vincent Laird, Andrea Jacobs, and Bryan Coulter, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters; Arlene (Richard) May of Las Vegas, NV, Barbara Bartko of WV and Ruth (Rick) Pringle of FL.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Wed. 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. Services will be Thursday 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Charles Owston officiating. Burial will follow.
