Harry Hess, age 85, of McKeesport, died February 15, 2013. He was born in McKeesport on July 17, 1927 and is the son of the late John and Margaret McNamee Hess. He served in the US Army during WW ll in the Big Red One and was a special guard during the Nuremberg Trials. He is retired from U.S. Steel, a loyal fan of McKeesport and Serra Catholic football and basketball, coached and supported New Eagle youth baseball and soccer for many years and was a former volunteer fireman. He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Virginia Godek Hess; daughters; Beverly (Gary) Anselmino of New Eagle, PA and Christine (Bruce) Davis of Wyano, PA; grandchildren, Felicia (Tim) Baird, Philip (Jessica) Anselmino, Mathew (Rose) Anselmino, Michael Davis, Kathleen Davis, and Amy Davis; great-grandchildren, Andrew Baird, Marco Anselmino, Lorenzo Anselmino, and Cora Anselmino and three future great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings; John D., Charles, Albert and infants Katherine and Virginia.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177)on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Mass will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Polish Cemetery.
