Harold B. Byer, age 90, of White Oak, died October 16, 2010. He was born in Schenectady, New York on April 26, 1920 and is the son of the late Charles and Eva Kleiman Byer. He is the husband of Sylvia Moidel Byer.

He was a retired partner of Byer's Children's Shops which was established in 1939 and originated in McKeesport. He is a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII having served with the 7th Army in France and Germany with the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of McKeesport Business District Authority Board and formerly served as Vice President. He was a graduate of McKeesport High School where he earned a scholarship with the Debate Society to the University of Pittsburgh where he then graduated. He was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel and a past long time member of its' Board of Trustees, B'Nai Brith, the American Legion Post 361 – McKeesport and the Jewish War Veterans Post 181 – McKeesport and a Past President of the Downtown McKeesport Association and its Board of Directors.

He is survived by son, Robert L. (Louise) Byer of Gibsonia, daughter, Barbara L. (Bryan) Rosenberger of Upper St. Clair, granddaughters, Laura Rosenberger of Washington, D.C. and Lisa Rosenberger of Washington, D.C. and brother, Samuel (Marion) Byer of Pittsburgh.

Friends will be received Striffler's of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor 412-678-6177) on Sunday from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. Rabbi Paul Tuchman will be officiating. Burial will be at Temple Cemetery.
