George Thomas Shaffer

George Thomas Shaffer, age 53, of N. Versailles, died April 19, 2011. He was born in McKeesport on August 11, 1957 and is the son of Sarah Schleifer Shaffer of N. Versailles and the late William Thomas Shaffer. After graduating in 1975 from East Allegheny High School he enlisted in the Marine Corps on Nov. 21, 1975 and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1977. He lived in Florida for a number of years and returned to PA where he was a Licensed Professional Chef employed by Tillie's Restaurant in McKeesport.

In additional to his mother he is survived by siblings William Charles (Judith) Shaffer of Jeannette, Mark (Kathy) Shaffer of Bear, Delaware and Cindy (Kathy Rizza) Shaffer of Baldwin. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Thursday 4:00pm until 8:00 pm. A mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Church will be held at a future date. Entombment to follow. Remembrances may be made to N. Versailles EMS, 1021 Broad Street , North Versailles, PA 15137.
