George Matlas

George Matlas, 81, of Monroeville died Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Born July 4, 1929, in McKeesport , he was the son of the late Michael Matlos and Anna Balog. He was preceeded in death by Son George Michael Matlas who lived in Greensburg. He is survived by his Wife, Gail Wahaski Matlas,whom he was married to for 32 years; Brother Mike (Fran) Matlos, of McKeesport; sisters, Margaret Marinello, of McKeesport and Helen Warbicki of White Oak; daughters, Michelle Marie Dolby, of West Mifflin, Deanna Matlas, of McKeesport, and Terry Matlas, of McKeesport; son Greg (Colleen) Matlas, of Mount Pleasant; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Gail's sisters, Penny Meighen, of Irwin, and Candy Hall, of Liberty Boro; also survived by beloved pets, Ladybug and Cricket.

He was a member of White Oak American Legion # 701. A steelworker, George retired from National Tube in McKeesport after 34 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War.
