Enio A. Tozzi Sr.

March 24, 1926 — February 16, 2024

Enio A. Tozzi, Sr., age 97, of White Oak, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to parents Tullio and Zoe (Larghi) Tozzi March 24, 1926, in Greenfield, Pennsylvania. Enio graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School and immediately enlisted in the Navy during World War II stationed in Pearl Harbor. After returning from the war, he joined his father and three brothers building homes in the Pittsburgh area. Tozzi homes were known as some of the best constructed buildings in the Pittsburgh area. Enio then received a finance degree from the Pittsburgh Business School and joined the Union Railroad as a financial clerk. He had a very successful career at Union Railroad retiring in 1987 as Chief Clerk. Enio and Eleanor were very active at St. Angela Merici Church as well as the Italian Sons and Daughters. Enio also loved to garden, a skill he learned from his father. There was never a summer that he did not have a garden full of lettuce, swiss chard, tomatoes, and green beans.

Enio married Eleanor, the love of his life, in 1959, who survives him. Enio (Pap) and Eleanor (Nonna) lived a charmed life together at their home in White Oak, PA surrounded by great neighbors and dedicated family. They were inseparable for 64 years and were role models for their children on how to live life to its fullest. Enio is also survived by daughter, Carla Tozzi (Mark) Husnick; and sons, Enio (Sherri) Tozzi, Jr.; and Dino (Angela) Tozzi. Enio and Eleanor were blessed to have eight grandchildren: Zoe (Alec Hutchin, fiancé), Enio III, Alessia, Gianna, Carlo, Antonina, Isabella, and Domenico. He was the best Pap! Enio is also survived by his dear brother and best friend, Tullio.

Enio was most known for his love of family, God, and music. From a very early age, he played the violin – continuing until just recently. He instilled this in his children as well, encouraging them to learn an instrument. Soon the “Tozzi Family Band” was formed with Carla on the prim, Dino on the mandolin and Enio Jr. on the guitar (Eleanor was their #1 fan!). The Tozzi Family Band played at many weddings, anniversaries, private parties, and talent shows. You can guarantee there would be live music at every holiday and family gathering. After retiring from Union Railroad, Enio joined several orchestras, including the Tuesday Musical Symphony, Penn Sembles Adult Tamburitzan Orchestra, and his heartfelt favorite, The Sacred Heart Adult Tamburitzan Ensemble. He loved to perform at Croatian Fraternal Union events.

Enio will be remembered for his devoted love of his wife Eleanor and family, witty personality, constant smile, and insatiable thirst for music. He will leave his family with love, insight, and thoughtfulness that will ripple into generations to come.
