Elizabeth J. Peduti, age 99, of Marianna, PA, died on Sunday, September 21, 2025. She was born in Latrobe, PA, on September 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Walchok Grunwald. She was a graduate of Marion High School. Liz was the wife of the late Frank L. Peduti, who died on August 30, 1986, and after nearly forty years, they will be rejoined. They were married on August 25, 1949. Together, they raised five children on the farm.
Liz was a homemaker and an active member of the SS. Mary and Ann Roman Catholic Church in Marianna, then St. Oliver Plunkett Parish (now Katherine Drexel Parish). She was an active member of the Christian Mothers Society and the Ladies of Charity at the Church. She loved her family dearly, hosted many friends at card club evenings, and copiously supplied her family with fresh food from her vegetable garden. She was avidly involved in a healthy lifestyle and suggested it to all who would listen.
Liz is survived by her children: Frank (Kathy) Peduti of Waynesburg, PA; Sharon (the late William) Laughner of Scenery Hill, PA; Brenda (David) DiNardo of Fort Mill, SC; Pamela (Gene) Scheller of Washington, PA; Rev. Douglas F. Peduti, SJ, of Bethel Park, PA; two siblings: Margaret Ann (the late Gary) Grant of Rostraver Twp. PA and Frank J. Grunwald of Belle Vernon, PA. Twelve grandchildren called her Grammy: Christine Smith, Frank Justin Peduti, Shannon Laughner, Shawndel Laughner, Shalynn Sapotichne, William Laughner III, Kara Gray, Ashley Barefoot, Greg DiNardo, Matthew Scheller, Brandon Scheller, and Leigha Selvoski; and was great Grammy to eighteen great grandchildren: Harlow Guy, Jordan Centofanti, Xavier Sapotichne, Savella Sapotichne, Owen Gray, Lucas Gray, Olivia Gray, Abigail Barefoot, Austin Barefoot, Elizabeth DiNardo, Kiona Scheller, Kailina Scheller, Kyler Scheller, Jeffrey Selvoski, Ivan Selvoski, Gavin Selvoski, Pierce Selvoski, and Penelope Selvoski; and many nieces and nephews called her Aunt Libby.
In addition to her parents and husband, Liz was preceded in death by her niece, Diane Brautigam; and siblings, Joseph Nick Grunwald; Theodore T. (the late Patricia Ann Rekrut) Grunwald; Helen G. (the late Ralph William, Jr.) Brautigam; Frances J. Grunwald; and Rose (the late Steve Edward “Tepe”) Galaski.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden St., Washington, PA 15301. A second viewing will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Freyvogel Slater Funeral Home, 112 Fort Couch Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. All family and friends will meet at Resurrection Parish, 126 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park, PA 15241, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 27, officiated by her son, Father Douglas Peduti, SJ. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center at Resurrection Parish. Interment at Horns Cemetery in Marianna will follow later that day at 4:00 p.m.
