Edward Paul Soltis, Sr.

January 11, 1927 — October 29, 2020

Edward P. Soltis, Sr. age 93 of Port Vue, departed this life peacefully on October 29, and joined his beloved wife, Dolores (Haberjak) Soltis and his loving son, Edward, in God’s heavenly kingdom. He was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Soltis of Duquesne. Preceded in death by his brothers, William, Joseph, Albert, Thomas, and John; sisters, Margaret Gaydos, Helen Mullen, Agnes Makatura and Sr. Maureen Soltis. Edward was a retired heavy equipment operator for 40 years at the US Steel Duquesne Works, a faithful member of Mary, Mother of God Parish and former member and usher of Holy Trinity Parish in McKeesport. He was a veteran of the US Army Corps of Engineers, honorably serving during World War II, a member of American Legion Post 380 in Dravosburg and of the G.B.U. in Duquesne.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Kathleen (Ray) Stell of North Huntingdon; daughter-in-law, Diane Soltis of Hopewell Township; loving grandchildren: Jennifer (Chris) Honeywill of Hopewell Township, Kelly (Brian) Bobby, Bryan (Lori) Soltis and Christopher (Lindsay) Stell of North Huntingdon, Jason (Lindsay) Soltis of Hopewell Township; and 10 great-grandchildren: Kyra and Allison Honeywill, Ava, Austin, and Aubree Bobby, Gavin Stell, Kailey Soltis, Lacy, Layna and Jackson Soltis, nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends will be received from 9am to 12pm Saturday, October 31, 2020, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION & MORTUARY SERVICES INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, 412-678-6177.) For the safety of the family and friends and in accordance with the COVID-19 State Guidelines, visitors are required to wear a mask or face covering and maintain social distancing. Groups are limited to 25 persons. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 12:30 pm at St. Angela, Mary, Mother of God Parish, White Oak. Military Honors will follow.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Mary, Mother of God Parish or offer a prayer in Ed’s honor while remembering his hardy laugh and wonderful smile. Ed was immensely proud of his family and will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
