Cora Marie Rein

Feb 23, 1932 — Oct 2, 2026

North Huntingdon

Cora Marie Rein, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed peacefully into the Light in the morning hours of October 2, 2026.

She was born February 23, 1932, in Donnybrook, ND; the first daughter of Milton and Irene (Peterson) Coons. She had treasured memories of her childhood in Donnybrook and a new way of city life as the family moved to Minot, ND.

It was in Minot that she met the greatest love of her life, Clifford. They met at Minot State University as she was working on her degree. She graduated Kappa Delta Pi with her teaching degree in Home Economics.

Cora and Cliff were married in Des Joachim, Quebec in 1951. She and Cliff moved to Pembroke, Ontario, Canada for his work. She loved to entertain and had many opportunities to fulfill that joy.

After spending fourteen and a half years in Canada, the family moved to Idaho Falls, ID and finally to White Oak, PA.

Cora taught needle work at the local YWCA for several years; she then dove into volunteer service with the Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania. She served as a troop leader for three years and then became Neighborhood Chairman of White Oak for many years. As time went on, she began volunteering at the Council level and enjoyed every opportunity that was presented.

Married nearly 68 years, the hardest goodbye came in June 2025. Throughout her life she loved trying new recipes and always kept the family guessing what might be for dinner or dessert.

She is survived by her three children, Rich (Colleen) Rein of Evergreen, CO; Monica (Lawerence) Kuranko of East Boothbay, ME and Ramona (Kevin) Rein of White Oak, PA. She is also survived by her two sisters, Sharon Gates of Grand Forks, ND and Beverly McDaniels of Hayden, ID, nieces Gwyn (Steve) Olson and Traci (Shane) Fritsch and families.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Cora’s name may be made to the Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania, https://www.gswpa.org/en/support-us/donate-locally.html
