Charles Lalley, age 81, of Elizabeth Twp., died May 1, 2011. He was born in West Newton on Nov. 3, 1929 he is the son of the late James and Anna Deutsch Lalley. He was a teacher for Duquesne School District and then retired as Superintendent from the South Allegheny School District. Mr. Lalley also served as interim Superintendent for the Duquesne and East Allegheny School Districts. He was a member of numerous professional organizations including: National Education Association, Kappa Phi Kappa, Phi Delta Kappa, PA School Board Association, PA Association of School Administrators, Southeastern PA Superintendent Association and the McKeesport Preschool for Exceptional Children. He served four years in the US Naval Reserve and proudly served the United States during the Korean Conflict as a member of the US Air Force Intelligence Division. He is survived by his wife Mary Gasparella Lalley, children James (Tonya) Lalley of S. Charleston, Ohio and Maria (Robert) Salankiewicz of Richmond, Michigan, grandchildren Mark, Matthew, Maxwell and Landon, brother John (Tina) Lalley of Tannersville, PA, brother-in-law Charles Gorday and nieces and nephews. In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother James P. Lalley, sisters Elizabeth Gorday, Ellen Lalley and Cora and Charles Wall.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Wed. from 6-8 and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8pm. Services will be held on Friday at St. Patricks Church. Burial will follow.
