Charles B. Gilchrist, Sr., age 78, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Port Vue, died August 20, 2013. He was born in McKeesport on Oct. 9, 1934 and is the son of the late Clement C. and Edna Bennett Gilchrist and husband of the late Mary Louise Jackson.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Construction Specialist for Duquesne Light Company.
Charles is survived by his wife; Florence "Flo" Gilchrist, children; Charles B. (Robin) Gilchrist, Jr. of Liberty Borough, Timothy (Patricia) Gilchrist of Ellport, PA, stepchildren; Michael (Diana) Kalfut of McComb, Michigan, David Kalfut of Omaha, Nebraska, Linda (Kevin) Fiscus of Jacksonville, Florida, grandchildren; Tanner, Jordan, Charles III, step-grandchildren; Kristi and Jeffrey Kalfut, sisters; Clemma McCawley of Edmond, Oklahoma, Madonna (James) Frederick of Port Vue, niece; Deborah (Jeffrey) Gehran of Plainfield, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 pm. Services will be held Saturday at Noon at Sampson Mills Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. J. Bruce Byers officiating. Entombment will follow.
