Barbara Mochan Sopko, age 96, of White Oak died on July 24, 2014. She was born in Wilmerding on February 3, 1918 and is the daughter of the late George Mochan, Sr. and the late Anna Klobucar Mochan. She was the wife of the late John Sopko, Sr. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and the Croation Fraternal Union of American Lodge 4 in Etna.
She is survived by her children; John E. Sopko, Jr., Michael (Carol A.) Sopko, Frank G. Sopko, and Elizabeth Sopko, all of White Oak, grandchildren; Jennifer Lynn Sopko and Michele (Derrick) Sopko Smith, sisters; Helen E. Mochan and Rose Marie Pavlecic, both of White Oak, longtime friend; Sandra Sivak, long time caregivers; Roxanne Myczka and Tiffaney Johnson, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by siblings; Mary McCurdy, Catherine Slovina, George, Michael and Paul Mochan, and her Uncle Matthew Valentich.
Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at Noon at Corpus Christi Church with Father Michael Maranowski officiating. Burial will follow.
