Andrew Gust Kondos, age 89, of West Mifflin, PA, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, March 6, 2026. He was born in McKeesport, PA on January 4, 1937, he was raised in Jefferson Hills, PA, and was the son of the late Constantine A. and Fotini “Fotoula” Georgopoulos Kondos. Andrew proudly served in the United States Army and later retired from U.S. Steel in their electrical department. In addition to his electrical work at U.S. Steel, he was involved in their grievance committee to help fellow employees with worker’s compensation claims and was a member of APEX within U.S. Steel. Andrew also served as a member of the Masonic Dallas Lodge No. 231 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a founding member of the Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Clairton, PA, and was recognized with St. Photios Award for his outstanding devotion. Andrew was also a member of the Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church in White Oak, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Andrew Kalpidou Kondos; sons, Constantine A. (Cathy) Kondos of White Plains, NY; James A. (Nadia) Kondos of Jefferson Hills, PA; granddaughters, Dimitria A. Kondos; Elana L. Kondos; Anna T. Kondos; and brother, Theodore (Karen) Kondos of Elizabeth, PA.
In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his son, John A. Kondos, who died on November 16, 2018. Andrew's favorite role was participating in the Special Olympics with his son, John. He dedicated many years of service as the Vice President of the Mon Valley Special Olympics.
Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Andrew’s memory on Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. (The Traditional Greek Orthodox Trisagion Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.) at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). There will be an additional gathering at the Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, 1128 Summit Street, White Oak, PA 15131, on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A burial with full military honors will follow.
