Alphonse J. Tedesco

Alphonse J. Tedesco, age 92, of White Oak died April 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Jean Pace Tedesco. He was born June 5, 1919 and was the son of the late Julio and Rose Tedesco.

He was employed for 42 ½ years at Fort Pitt Steel Casting Foundry in McKeesport. In addition he worked in other construction trades for many years. He was a man of many talents and abilities. Later he was especially proud to work with the family business, Tedesco Construction.

Mr. Tedesco was very proud to serve in the US Army in WW ll in the 395th Infantry, 99th Division and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a 50 year member of St. Angela Merici Church where he served as the head usher for the 11:00 am mass..

He is survived by children Alison (Arthur) Lautman of Monroeville, Gerald (Patty) Tedesco of White Oak and William A. Tedesco Szymanski of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, grandchildren Jerry (Kristen), Jonathan (Robyn), Matthew, Jamie (Bill), Michelle (Matt), Bonnie (Tom), Carrie (Bill), and Billy. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.

His greatest joy in life was being surrounded by his family. He was loved by all. We will miss him.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) on Monday from 5-8 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Mass will be Wed. at 10 am at St. Angela. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
