Alex "Pete" Belany, age 90, of Port Vue, died Nov. 4, 2010. He was born in McKeesport on Nov. 15, 1919 and is the son of the late John and Anna Prebanitch Belany. He is the devoted husband of the late Irene Tutko Belany who died Oct. 24, 2009. They were married for 62 years.
He was a very hard worker who retired from USX National Tube as a General Manager and was a US veteran serving in WW ll on the Pacific as a Corporal in the Marines. He was a member of the Archer Hall Bowling League, the Port Vue American Legion and the Port Vue VFW.
He was a wonderful father to his two daughters; Eileen (John) Liberoni of Pleasant Unity, PA and Judith Elkanich of Pittsburgh, grandfather of Rebecca (Terry) Wilhide and Elizabeth (Jeff) Stutzman, great grandfather of Alex, Rachel, Luke, Taylor, Samantha, Megan and Lauren, and also surviving are nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Striffler's of Port Vue Funeral Home, 325 Gumbert Street, Port Vue, 15133 (412 678 6193) on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Mass will be Sat. 10 am at St. Mary Czestochowa, 2515 Versailles Ave., McKeesport, PA 15132. Burial to follow.
